Sailing Through Menopause Naturally: My Journey Without HRT

Sailing Through Menopause Naturally: My Journey Without HRT

By Debi Rossouw, owner of Chi-Chi’s Retreats and Spa Group Western Cape

Menopause. Big subject, right? I’m 54 and smack dab in the middle of it. I do get a few hot flashes and feel a bit hotter than usual, but let me tell you, managing menopause naturally is totally possible. And guess what? I’ve even lost weight during this journey.

The Secret: Managing Stress Hormones

To sail through menopause, managing your stress hormones are essential.

Your Endocrine System

What is an endocrine system? The endocrine system is a network of glands that produce and release hormones that help regulate many different bodily functions. The endocrine system also helps control mood, growth and development, metabolism, and sexual function.

If you want to take control of your endocrine system, you’ve got to learn how to manage adrenaline and cortisol. Daily self-regulation and decompression of your nervous system are key to finding balance in your endocrine system.

Embracing a Healthy Lifestyle

These simple changes make a huge difference:

  1. Healthier eating is a must.
  2. Add steam sessions 2 to 3 times a week, and you’ll release a lot of toxins from your lymphatic system, which helps with menopausal symptoms.
  3. Move your body every day.
    • Rebounding is phenomenal, but if you don’t have a mini trampoline, you can walk for at least 30 minutes per day.
    • Do some muscle training 2 to 3 times a week, which is pertinent to health during menopause.

Managing Menopause Naturally and Weight Loss

I’m amazed at how well I’m managing menopause without any hormone replacement therapy (HRT), just by going all-natural. Stress management is the cornerstone of my approach.

TRE Therapy:

Shake out all that excess stress, and you’ll find it much easier to manage your endocrine system.

Breathing Techniques:

Breathing exercises are crucial—they calm your central nervous system and help regulate your stress hormones. This also helps you lose weight during menopause.

Every time I go to the gym, we focus on heavy breathing exercises along with my training routine.

It’s a running joke with my personal trainer because—seriously, who breathes that intensely all day long? But after an hour of lifting weights and controlled breathing, I leave the gym on an absolute high. This practice is vital for my stress management and overall well-being.

The Easiest Weight Loss Journey

In the last 2 to 3 months, I’ve experienced the easiest weight loss journey of my life. By managing my menopausal symptoms with stress management, healthy eating, and daily exercise, which includes a sunset walk on the beach, I’ve lost 15 kilogrammes.

The biggest part of this success was managing my stress hormones. Menopause cannot be effectively managed without managing your endocrine system and addressing stress hormones.

In Conclusion

For me, navigating menopause without HRT is possible through stress management, healthy lifestyle choices, and regular exercise. Focus on self-regulation and decompression, and you’ll maintain balance in your endocrine system, manage menopausal symptoms, and even lose weight.

Remember, you have the power to manage your stress hormones and improve your overall well-being.
